witchcraft is a poem

Here's a thought. Witchcraft is poetry. It is living metaphor. It is sympathy for all around you and that which is around you having sympathy for you too.

Molly sys if you don't have a favorite poem then it's time to get one. But poetry isn't the sort of thing that lets you have a favorite. It is there to speak to you in one moment and then its echoes slowly quiet. Like a spell, it is for you to use and love when the moment is right. And when you're done with it, that means the spell has worked.

Witchcraft is poetry. Words do now have power, they merely carry it. Did the spell do this? Or did it just uncover what was already held within you?

I don't like witchcraft when it tries to change the unchangeable. I don't like witchcraft when it pushes against an immovable object and points to the lines in the dirt from its sliding shoes struggling for a grip and claims they are proof of its own power. I only like witchcraft when it is raw and honest, when it shines a light into the dark caves to see what was always there.

DEATH TO PERFECTiON

DEATH to perfection. The best laid plans will die with you, and they will die as soon as they hit the ground. Let go.

The rat is staring death in the face. Death is to be loved and worshipped as deliverance from pain.

Cat and mouse, but the cat will always win eventually.

The black cat is an omen of death in the best way, one to be befriended and loved.

when something comes from witchcraft

Kelly-Ann Maddox encourages you to imagine what your life will look like with witchcraft integrated. I have a very specific image that comes into my mind.

A summer night, a coven of witches have a bonfire. We spend time together before the rival, eating and drinking as the sun sets. We are dressed as punks and rebels. When it is good and dark we go in circles around the fire, half-dancing, half-running, like a mosh pit, and we each cast a handful of sand or ash or water or herbs and throw it in as though we're casting sparks from our hands. And we move for the next to do the same and bounce forth once more when we wish.

The image has lots of movement, fire, power, strength, and comradely. No self-consciousness or guilt for your expression want to lie back-down beneath the porch swing? Do it. Rest around others.
